DIY Drop lol
Hey guys, I have an extra set of springs. I was bored and I got to tinkering with my leftover parts and decided to exp.
Before I make my final cuts I was wondering if anyone has tried it yet, cutting stock AP1 springs about half a coil and getting a decent lil drop
Let me know before I butcher my spares springs

BoostNHigh,
I'm a mechanical engineer, so trust me, there's more to understanding the spring dampening than you are taking into account.
Cutting springs is NOT the smartest way to reduce ride height. By cutting the springs you effectively change the spring dampening (force/length) and this spring dampening will NOT match the shock valving in the stock shocks.
Can it be done? Yes. Is it smart? Absolutely not. Either buy new springs and possibly shock absorbers as a kit, or just leave well enough alone.

Christopher

Thanks for the insight into mechanical engineering...I dont want more of a drop, i was just bored and wanted to do something creative.
Sorry If I made you all think that Im going to slap em on and ride around for days on end.
On to something else to play with !

I've had a car with cut springs. People here are just scared. It will be bouncy, but it is a feasible option.
Hell, a friend of mine had a protege he took the springs out of. Thats right, no springs at all.

Why would you want to compromise the ride quality and suspension charactoristics the stock S2000 has to offer? If you wanna go lower, do it right. At the least just by a set of aftermarket springs for ~$200.

spend the $250 and get it done right
