Default Drive Shaft differences

So in Honda's efforts to "dumb down" the AP2 in comparison to the AP1 I was wondering if they altered the weight of the OEM drive shaft ... or propeller shaft as some of you call it. As it seems to me you take a few oem ap1 parts and throw em on an ap2 and you got a sick daily driver.

Or, just start off with an AP1.

yeah well some of the AP2 to AP1 modifications (i.e. Rear) are a bit more expensive then say an ap1 flywheel and an ap1 intake cam lol.

I was kidding. If I could afford it, I'd be in a brand new Laguna Blue S.

The propeller shaft from an AP1 will not fit an AP2 because they used different bolts to connect it to the differential(not sure about the transmission, I will update this soon), my guess is that the transmission collar bolts are the larger size as well. The AP1 bolts are 10mm in size connecting to the differential whereas the AP2 bolts are 12mm in size. Half shafts are the same though. You can use an AP2 differential but you need to change out the collar connecting to the prop shaft, and to do that you need a crush sleeve and the whole differential needs to be torn down and set up again(ie... backlash, tooth contact etc etc.) I had an AP2 diff in my AP1, swapped collars, put 10.9 grade metric bolts in it and a distance collar and it was ready to rock. I also had AP2 axles

Nice but still thanks for the explanation, however, I still would like to know if the shaft itself is lighter or not =P I saw that Password JDM is making a CF one but I forget the specs on it and its not on their website (atleast I cant find it)

Everything but the collars are the same, I doubt there is any weight difference.
