Default Dynamat for drone?

Anybody ever try using dynamat or similar product to reduce exhaust drone? I'm not a fan of the added weight of dynamat, but I'm also not a fan of my exhaust drone at cruising speeds with the skunk2 + silencers.

I added several layers to the trunk, and it made minimal difference; actually made the drone worse in lower RPMS around 2k as it changed the resonance of the trunk metal.

I then removed it....biggest PITA of anything I have ever done in my life.

Dont do it; Just buy a quieter exhaust.

I covered the the entire spare tire area and it made a noticeable difference when I had my Invidia duals. Dynamat really doesn't weigh that much btw. When I get the time & motivation I plan on doing the entire interior.

I think some have wrapped their exhaust in header wrap which has quieted down the drone a bit.

Me too!

Also tried some of this -> http://quietcoat.stores.yahoo.net/quiet1gal.html

S-Factor recommended it a while ago to me and some others. 1 gallon did the whole car (floors) twice and I still have 1/3 of a gallon left. Quieted down the interior a bit from road noise and a bit from the exhaust.

Or you could just replace the part of your exhaust that is causing the drone, and improve performance at the same time...

The best info about drone is down near post 87 and after.

To be honest, I don't think this is a good solution for exhaust drone. I've coated my headers, wrapped my exhaust from header back, and dynamated my trunk as well as the in-cabing transmission tunnel (the passenger's side is supposedly the bigger culprit). I'd say the overall gains for drone reduction were about 10%. IMHO, none of this is worth the effort.

I did it and it made a difference, but it wasn't enough for me to not eventually change my exhaust back to stock. I like to think it reduced road noise too but overall like others said, it's really not worth it as a drone-reduction tactic.

Best to really just put another resonator in the exhaust somewhere. I think Vibrant has some weld in ones available.
