Default E85 MPG

Hey guys so this year I'm switching to e85 with a Kraftwerks system. I'm switching to e85 because 93 won't cut it on 15 psi because last year I put flat valves and the head was machined bumping compression to about 12:1. The question is the guys running on e85 how many miles are you guys getting out of a tank of fuel?

I average 22mpg bone stock on 91 octane. 19-20mpg on 91 octane since being turbo charged and I average about 14mpg on e85. With e85 150miles is about the safe limit on a tank before I need to refill.

I get ~150-175 miles before I'm hunting for a station that has E85

I guess it's not too bad. If I really want mpg I'd buy a Prius. What is your guys general overall opinion on the e85?

I had e85 in a turbo gsr hatch and would get around 19 to 20 mpg when putting around. In contrast on 93, I would get closer to 28-30 mpg when I would stay out of boost. If you're going to run it, Ii would highly suggest getting a zeitronix setup. I had an issue with the e85 mixture changing.

Yeah I've got an AEM wide band in the car to watch air fuel. And with the AEM ems its programmed to go into limp mode if it runs too lean or rich.

E85 is truly a gift from the car gods. As well as a flex fuel tune.

Back in the day 400-500whp was the limit for standard 91octabe and a well build turbo 4 cylinder. If you wanted more power you needed to retune for high octane race fuel like c16/q16 which is good for 500-1000+whp. Race fuel can't be pumped at a gas station and it's like $15 a gallon. So this was saved for rare ocations for the track and was unrealistic for the street use.

Now we have e85. It can be pumped into our cars from normal gas stations. It gets 30% worst fuel economy but it's about 20-25% Cheeper than 91octane, so it's really only cost 5-10% more than 91octane. But it can make almost as much power as c16. E85 is good for over 1000whp. And the best thing is I have a single flex fuel tune on my aem ems. This means I can run any amount of mix with e85 or 91 octane and the ecu will automatically raise or lower timing and raise and lower boost depending on how much ethanol is in the tank. It's such a beautiful thing. If I want 450whp I can just pump 100%91 octane. If I want 700whp I just pump 100%e85. Or I can run 50%e85 and 50%91octane for e50 and I can have 500-600ish whp. No more swaping maps. No more draining the tank to change fuels. No more worrying than I'm running out of e85 with no e85 station close by.

With e85 and flex fuel. It's a good time to have a high power turbo car.

Exactly! I love the flextune with Infinity. Only thing that burns my ass are the narcissistic f@#ks at the gas stations.... you have 16 pumps where I go, only 2 have ethanol. only 2 cars and often they are both on the ethanol pumps getting octane. Wish the gas stations were smart and made the ethanol pumps ethanol ONLY.

Mileage... id say i get 12-14 per gallon on E85

What size injectors are you guys running over 450 hp. I am going to use 1300 per Jeff Evans advise to get around 500.
