i will use this "12-gallon-techron" with around 8 gallons then.

and will use the other one with another 8 gallons.

hopefully it will make a differnce to the engine... if so, i will start to use a bottle or two every year or so.

i'm also going to look into the race gas... i found someone who stocks Sunoco 260 GT Plus (109 RON / 99 MON). I'm planning on buying a 25-litre drum, and try adding 1 litre to every full tank of gas.
I'm thinking, one litre of 109-RON race gas will be more effective than half a litre of octane booster.
But I will try it out and time will tell.

I just now saw your pictures, and noticed that you have the smaller Techron bottle. I guess I'd probably add it to the tank, but only fill it 3/4 the way up.

Your plugs look okay to me, but I'm not experienced at reading plugs. However, I firmly believe it's best to run the coldest plug that you can get away with. There's definitely no benefit to run a plug that's any hotter than "hot enough".

I think octane boosters are actually much weaker than you think. IIRC, adding a bottle only increases the octane of a tank ay less than 1.

One tenth of that, 0.1 octane is doing good.
That sounds right.

I do think that the pro-boost makes a difference, because i used to add a third of a litre with every tank, and I Used to hear knock.
Then I started to add half a liter with every tank. And knock has decreased.

Knock, as explained, was very very pronounced when I removed part of the air intake.

Today, I re-installed the plugs and fitted the air intake as well.
I also put the techron concentrate in the fuel tank.

I took it for a quick spin, and the obvious pinking has disappeared.

However, upon close listening, I think that there is still pinking going on.

It's just that it's not very audible with the intake on.

So I'm looking forward to receive the new plugs to see of that fixes a part of the problem at least.

I'm also hoping that the techron will make a difference

The only thing that will make the pre-ignition sounds go away with the Mugen ECU is more octane.

To be honest, even though I have no experience in these problems, I believe what you say is true.
If i don't find time this week, surely next week i will check about the sunocu racing fuel. I will experiment with adding 1 or 2 liters per tankful.

So I'm wondering.. What difference will the one-step-colder plug do?

It will make no difference. Your car is not pinging from hot plugs.

I really don't think it's correct to make a statement like that. I've seen on 2 different pairs of nearly identical S2000's that the OEM heat range leads to more knock retard. Back in '02, my buddy and I both had '02 AP1's with the same mods, except I also had colder plugs. When we monitored ignition timing via OBDII, mine was more advanced than his. When I datalogged my brother's 100% bone stock AP2 and compared it to my nearly stock '08 AP2 with colder plugs, his had 3 degrees less ignition timing and 3 degrees more knock retard. So it seems to me that the OEM heat range certainly can contribut to knock.
