switching hazards and start button

Default switching hazards and start button

has anyone ever tried switching the hazards button with the start button? im curious and kinda like the idea.

Some did early on (10-12 years ago)---just need to cut and extend the wires and use the same terminal connections. Just a matter of cutting with wires and crimping in extension pieces long enough to put the switches in the other location. Just make sure to get a good crimp on the extension wires---dont want the starter button to stop working becaues a wire came loose.

Do a search and you may be able to find the threads.

One issue in doing it is the starter button is "live" when the engine is running and you dont want a passenger pushing the start button while the engine is running and breaking teeth on the starter or flywheel--thats one reason Honda put it over where they did so only the driver can reach it and its unlikely to be pushed in accidentally. I think thats the reason the idea of switching them didnt really catch on even though they'd look better switched.

The ENGINE START button only works when the clutch is engaged. Otherwise you can press it and nothing happens. But like Jetboater said, It's best it's out of the way to prevent any possible accidents.
