Default EVS 70-SSP Exhaust Review

Hello fellow owners. I just recently bought the EVS Tuning 70-SSP from Evasive Motorsports. Since there aren't any nice reviews for this exhaust yet, I've taken my time to take detailed pictures for people that are interested. This is my first exhaust ever so I can't compare to any other exhausts on the market.

I'm currently waiting for a 70mm test pipe to pop up in the for sale section before I install this. So a detailed video will be coming in the near future once I get my hands on one.

I think their packaging was junk, here's how mine showed up..

I sent pics to them telling them they need to improve their packaging, but they didn't even bother replying

I initially had problems with the exhaust rubbing against the frame, but was able to adjust it so it wouldn't (had to pull the muffler pipe section out of the clamp a little bit)

I'll post a full review once I get my car back on a dyno again - cliff notes are - it definitely drones (tested with 63mm hfc and 70mm tp) and it's not a quiet exhaust (The ASM 70mm single is much quieter and drones way less).. I like the tone of the exhaust (similar to the HKS dual)

afzan, mine was on its way to how yours looked. I don't blame Evasive for their packaging, but I do blame the shipping handler's handling of the box. Evasive, however, should make the box a tad bit longer than it is to compensate for other's carelessness.

Thanks for the install tip!

I'll give my opinion on noise level and drone level once installed. I have a friend with HKS duals with 60mm piping and stock cat, and it sounds good to me with very minimal drone. I'll also try to get some db ratings with my Android phone (not sure if it'll be an accurate reading, I will have a base db rating with my friend's HKS duals to compensate).

the box alone wasn't the problem - if the packing materials didn't shift inside the box, the pipe wouldn't have been able to wear through the box

i had a short ride in AP2 with 60mm tp & evs exhaust. it drones a lot. after that, i decided to purchase hks dual exhaust. but i don't think it has a similar tone compared to hks.

that box is too small. when i received HKS dual exhaust, it's a much bigger box.

This. I also rode and drove Afzan's AP2 with the EVS exhaust and hfc. It had a noticeable amount of drone. Definitely not "drone-free" as advertised. My previous exhaust was an HKS dual, first with a resonated test pipe, then a straight through test pipe. It has some minor similarities in tone compared to the HKS, like the high rpm lift-off sound when listening from outside. Also, part throttle at around 4500 to 6000 rpm reminded me of the HKS.

Drone-wise, I'd say its comparable to the HKS dual. The EVS is a great sounding exhaust, no doubt... And it isn't crazy loud either. But, it's not as quiet or drone-free as originally claimed. The drone increases exponentially at highway speeds. I can see how some people might feel misled after purchasing and installing this exhaust.

Having said that, IMHO, it is a tolerable exhaust that can be daily driven. Although, my judgment is so far out of whack since I installed my Challenge 76TA-R haha.

As for the packaging, I was with him when he received the box and unpacked it. Totally unacceptable. The box was a few inches too short, and was missing protection in a few critical spots. Luckily the exposed piping wasn't mangled. It could have been worse!

not the greatest video (didn't really go over 5k), but it's an accurate representation of the tone (IMO): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aFjZb8s5mMk

edit: aem v1, 70mm tp, evs 70ssp
