Default exedy hyper single stage 3 gringing/jittering

i'm having a problem with the exedy hyper single stage 3 clutch. when ever i lift off of 1st and reverse, the clutch wont grab properly and grind on the way in. i just got a new slave and master cylinder put in. the guy who installed it claims that the release bearing is perfect. so im just wondering if anyone knows what the problem might be? any help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks

....its a race clutch. Its going to make a lot of noise and grab WAY up at the top. Like a race clutch should. Did you need a road race clutch? Or is this a DD? Mine lasted about 20k miles.

Its a race clutch.

I don't care what clutch, I would never accept that type of behavouir from a clutch.

This is a new symptom or has it always been this way?

Honestly, Exedy should pay back all of it customers for the products they sell judging by the amount of issues and how they sell they're product.

It's not really a feeling that feels like it should be there if you know what I mean. It it doesn't grab properly for me to even launch off fast. It would just grind on the way in. I've used an exedy before and it didn't make any noise like this. Also when it grinds the whole shift knob shakes like crazy.

I've only had it for 2 weeks and I've been going through trouble with the mechanic fixing it. They haven't really cooperated with me to make it work. I brought it back and the last words that they said to me was "sorry about that"

?? You've never used a race clutch?

There's hardly any modulation. Its an extremely agressive friction material. Its not meant for stop and go driving. The noises are normal. Its like a growling...chattering noise from the friction material digging into the chromoly flywheel.

Its not a clutch for the street. If you use it on the street, you'll have a bad time.

There's plenty of race parts that make street driving a bad time. Race pads, for example.

i also looked up on exedy and they say that the stage 3 is fine for every day use but anything higher has the chatter that your talking about.

Read the info packet that came with the clutch. It clearly states that the clutch is for race use and that it will make unusual noises.

Name one race clutch that doesn't make weird noises.

You can't.

There are quite a few precautions you need to be aware of and a few mods you need to make if you plan to use a race clutch with a 2500 lb (!!!!!) Plate on the street.

A clutch bypass switch would be a good idea to prevent crank walk and rod knock. As well as spending minimal time with the clutch pushed down....don't leave it down at stoplights, for example.

The question still remains....why did you buy this clutch?

for durability mostly. i am going to track it but it is still my daily. i do still think there is something wrong. my dad said his tvr was having the same problem and it was resolved but he doesnt know that much about cars either to tell me exactly what it was.
