Default Exhaust Advice

Hey,

I Installed a invidia q300 dual with a test pipe.
So its straight through from that exhaust manifold.
It is extremely loud, i mean extremely loud. I have compared it so my mates supra with a straight through and its a lot louder.
Anyway my question is, what can i do to make it quieter ?
Will putting the Cat back on make a different to noise?
My car s2000 is naturally aspirated and i have lost performance in low range up to about 5k rpm. I have read that back pressure can be an issue in NA vehicles with straight through systems.

Anyone had these issues before.

Putting the cat back on will help with some of the noise.

Yes by putting your catback it will bring down the noise... this is why when I was looking into an exhaust I didnt go with invidia because its to loud so I went with skunk2 dual mega power exhaust its loud but it comes with silencers and with the silencers on it brings down the noise to a reasonable level nd still produces same hp

The Q300 sounds great with the OEM cat or a HFC but with a test pipe it's terrible.

Agreed. Put the stock cat back on and everything will be set. Though I still think my Q300 is a bit too loud...HKS is better.

The OEM cat will eliminate the extreme rasp that the Q300 has, and make it much quieter. However it will drone considerably worse than it does with a test pipe.

It's a trade off. I have a Berk TP paired with a Skunk 2 Megapower and it's loud as hell under heavy throttle but the truth of the matter is when you have the TP in place you are essentially not as hard on the throttle as you would be with the cat so I just leave my cat off since I don't drive my car everyday anyways. It pretty much equals out imo as the sound from the outside of the car doesn't change much until I stomp on it.
