Post Final Drive Gear Ratios

If you could run any final drive gear ratio in your S2000, what would it be? Not asking about cost or availability. I just want to know what ratios people might want if there were more options.

You missed the two ratios that are most common when upgrading 4.44 & 4.56/4.57

Voted 4:30, but 4.44 would be a great alternative. Either one depending on rev limit, ap1/ap2 trans combo and if running a larger overall diameter tire. But stock out of the box an ap1 favors the 4.44. Ap2 is an odd duck as far as gearing goes, tempted to say it needs a 3.9 just to improve on a 1 shift to 60mph.

If 4.44 was in there that'd get my vote too.

I have no experience except for the stock 4.1 and a recently installed diff with a 4.57 on my AP2. The 4.57 is much quicker from a stop and much more fun to drive with having more torque at lower rpm. On the highway I am doing 5k at 85mph, it does not bother me even if less MPG on the highway. I think a 4.44 gear might be a good all around gear, but I mostly do street driving and prefer 4.57, probably could not tell much different between these two gear but definitely a big improvement over stock.

Choosing a final gear is based off a lot of variables. Puddymod 4.30 Mazda Speed gear and WPC Treatment in my mild 320whp S/C AP1. Puddymod can help you choose the correct gear and options for your build.

The answer to your question depends on a lot of different factors. For my NA AP1 I was going to use a 4.44 until I found a Richmond 4.56 ring and pinion. If you are set on a 4.56/4.57 I would stick with trying to find one of those instead of buying an Mfactory piece. The Mazda 4.44 is always a solid bet though.

I enjoy my 4.77 and supercharged. I know someone with a kraftwerks and 4.77 at 360whp and ran 11.90 on the 1/4. My 4.77 tops out at 130-133mph
