Finally bought an OEM hardtop
Hello all,
I just bought an oem hardtop!
I have a couple questions.
1. My softtop is not OEM and has very poor fitment. Can I remove it completely? (motor and all). Will the hardtop seal correctly without the softtop underneath? Any complications with deleting the softtop? Any DIY's on how this can be done?
2. The previous owner kept most of the hardware. I will be ordering it from HardTopGuy. However, he left these on and I have no idea what they are used for. I've looked at the DIY's here on S2ki and I've looked over the honda insturction PDF. Can someone help me figure out what to do with these?

Thank you!

Those brackets are just there to hold the soft top down and keep it from bouncing up. If you plan on removing the soft top then you can remove them. The hardtop seals perfectly with or without the soft top so no worries there. As far as the soft top removal, the seats and everything behind the seats will need to be removed. It took me 8 hours start to finish to remove the entire soft top assembly, and I took my time to make sure I didn't scratch anything. It's not hard just time consuming. Also, if you were interested the soft top assembly with the motors weighs 65-66lbs and the oem hardtop weighs about 55lbs. Congradulations on the purchase
Cool, did you find it local?
My advice would be to leave the soft top in the car and just install the new to you hardtop. The reason is, if you need or want to sell the car down the line the car is still complete and worth more. You have the option of selling the hardtop on it’s own if need be. Your soft top may not fit well but the car has one

The pics you took of the metal brackets under the rear window also have rubber stoppers on them. Those are available from Hardtopguy too. I just installed my OEM HT and left the soft top for the above reasons, plus I want to use it when the HT is off and stored.

Thanks for all the replies! I'm still debating what I want to do with my softtop. It doesn't fit well and it's not OEM, plus the rear defroster is shot.
I think I will remove it, and store it away. Much like everything else I've done with the car.
Do these rear brackets bolt up to the body? I wouldnt want my hardtop to bounce around, so ill like to retain them!

No those rear brackets do nothing and bolt to nothing. They aren't event brackets. The usually have a little rubber knob on them and are just there in case to soft top bounces a little. If you have no soft top they do nothing.
On another note, I was hoping Forbidden USA would have their hardware out already, but I guess Ill save up a for a bit longer and purchase OEM hardware.
