Default First Engine Upgrades

Hello S2K community! I am going to being acquiring my S2K hopefully in the coming weeks and all I have been thinking about is what modifications I will be doing first. I have already decided that I want to drop it so coils will most likely be my first addon. Unfortunately that is all I know, I keep telling myself I want to do engine work but I dont know enough about the car to come up with many ideas and I dont have a 5 grand to throw down on a supercharger so my question is what bolt on engine mods will give me the biggest power gains without breaking the bank? Thanks for the help!

You won't see much gains without boost.
If you hAve a ap2 flashpro first.

search is your friend, as has been stated many times before aftermarket add on's don't gain anything significant. I'm on my 2nd S and very happy with just stock exhaust, PRM intake and coil overs.

Get a test pipe and a way to tune your car.

Lot's of aftermarket sales adds will try to tell you otherwise, but you aren't going to improve on oem much and if you do, you will compromising in some other aspect. Simply, OEM manufacturers generally have more resources (money, personel, data/libraries) than any aftermarket company and they have arrived at their production point as a result of performance/comfort/longevity tradeoffs.

AEM V2 is the best bang for the buck intake. Toda headers are great, test pipe is crucial, any non restrictive drone minimizing exhaust is good. But, the only thing that will allow you to TRULLY extract power is a tuning solution such as AEM EMS or flash pro. I put out 250 WHP and 168 ft/lb of torque with such a set up.

Even better, get a 3" header back single and a way to tune. Probably the best bang for the buck mod(besides boost).

While those mods should give you some gains, it also matters what dyno you are on. That would probably put down a little over 200 on most other dynos. Not to crush your spirits or anything but all stock ap1's can put down up to 240whp on that dyno.

To the OP. Bolt ons really won't gain you much power. If you plan to sc the car later on, than things like exhaust, header test pipe could all still be used later on. Don't expect to feel much of a different with a few bolt ons though. Gain 5-10 hp maybe but won't notice it after the first test drive after really. Regardless of gains most still want an exhaust for the sound and look and possible weight savings etc. Just make sure before you start modding you are well aware of not really gaining much hp with the mods.
Can get a used comptech kit for $2500 and get some real noticeable gains!

It's pretty hard to get N/A power from the s2000 whether it's a f20 or f22. it takes a lot of $$$ to make 1hp.

2001 with i/h

2001 with i/h/e

2005 with i/e

2004 with ITB (obviously tuned)

i seen toda ITB's tuned on a crate engine f22 put down numbers very close to this in real life, it's not the brand and tuned by big name shops in socal.

2005 i/e (tuned ems)

2007 intake and some unknown tune
