If it is a IRS- Independent Rear Suspension. I was doing research most of them are the straight axles.

Ok what about 93-98 Lincoln mkviii with the 8.8 rear end I know they have IRS but can u use any 8.8 diff or gear ratio that comes from another 8.8 rear end like ford racing 8.8 rear ends?

So you used an Explorer rear diff cover, then you used the stock S2000 diff brace and made a new metal bracket? Man that's so cash!

He used a old T-Bird diff. You can use any 8.8 thats IRS. Plan on buying gears for it. I was looking yesterday and they are all 3.0X-3.7 (don't quote me) gear ratio. Luckily there are a lot of gears for those cars!

Right, I got that part, but I wanted to know if he simply combined an Explorer rear diff cover, and mated it to the S2000 brace/bracket with a piece of metal.

wadzii, what did you have to do to the gas tank?

"I ended up finding by accident that the ford explorer version of the 8.8 irs rear end uses a different cover that makes it MUCH easier to mount in the car"

If you go onto http://v8s2000.com/ they have a section just for rear ends and they talk about all of this stuff.

t-bird, mk vii and cobra irs rear ends are all basically the same.

8.8's also came in the irs versions of the explorer and expedition, but they all mount quite differently

With this setup I didnt have to add any clearance as far as the gas tank goes.

Wow, custom stuff like this is what keeps our scene moving forward. I bet the domestic guys never thought they'd see the day that "rice burners" are making enough power to require the same differentials as them.

Don't tell them though, they'll be quick to point out that you're using a Ford part, which must mean Japanese cars are trash lol
