Gah, so confused.
Okay, i'm just confused as hellll right now. I want to get an exhaust first, but my friend said that would reduce my low end torque.. and he said the intake would be an better idea. The intake only gives around 9-10 more horses and it has more airflow.. what's the difference from the exhaust? It's still more airflow. and if I were to get an intake.. would an 05 part fit on an 08 since they're both ap2's? I'm just looking at aem cold air intakes, but I couldn't find any 08's. And for exhausts.. would anybody recommend the buddy club prospec exhausts? Thanks!
I am sorry to say your friend is an idiot and is leading you astray.
Either way to go, neither an intake nor exhaust will yield you amazing HP. 9-10 is a big stretch and hardly attainable by pretty any intake, same goes for exhausts unless your looking to go with something very loud like a 70mm or 3" exhaust.
Any intake 00-05(non-dbw) will have a hole for the air-pump pickup, which your DBW (06+) AP2 does not have. So you could either plug the hole with a rubber cap or get an intake designed for 06+
Don't buy an exhaust alone and expect a big gain in power, buy an exhaust based on how you want your car to sound.
One thing you should keep in mind with your s2000 is that bolt-ons will not yeild you big gains without the proper tuning.
If you want good gains you'll want a header and exhaust combined with the Hondata reflash if you want to make the best power. This is where exhaust mods will make a big difference on your car. Intake mods however will show a minimal gain.

i would get a exhaust first and then MAYBE a intake,
exhaust will help the resistance from the stock, and you WILL gain hp.
a intake new is going to be around 400 dollars.... so
just look around for a cheap one, and in the mean time your going to have to get your filter changed, so just upgrade the filter and you will notice a difference,
and if you still want a intake read some more....
for the 05 fitting a 08 im not too sure,
but there is site that is really legit and i buy from there all the time,
nopi.com
they have your s2k year and look for
Engine Compartment | Air Intake System
after you click honda s2000 and then your year.
my local import shop gets everything from there.

Breather mods work best when they are a package. From the intake to exhaust and everything in between. You wont really gain much at all with any one breather mod, but with intake, header, exhaust together you will gain more all over.
Mod the car for sound, not power, since mods on an S don't amount to much short of going FI. If you want sound when you get on it, go with an intake. If you want sound all the time, and possibly drone, get an exhaust.

i also had this debate in my mind but i think i may go with an intake. it's cheaper, and for me i don't have a place to store a huge exhaust. plus only exhaust i want is greddy SE and that's over 1000$ which is ridiculous. plus people say their intakes drone out the sound of their exhausts at vtec so intake seems like a good chioce even if you just want noise. i'd go with the k&n though instead of a cai or w/e. don't have having that big empty space of nothing in the bay.
Its your choice man. I would do an exhaust first, then the intake. I agree with the rest that is mostly for sound, thats why I have the HKS dual and PRM intake. They don't make hardly any gains if any, but they both sound amazing.
