Thumbs up Gear?

So I have a noob question I guess. I was thinking of upgrading gears I cant seem to find a detailed comparison of the different ones 4.1, 4.3, 4.44, 4.57, 4.77. I was wondering if anyone can explain the differences or know of a reference of some sort. I want them for road racing with lots of hills and corners something that will help me accelerate quicker?? I almost never go over 100mph and if I ever do it isnt much over. All advice is much appreciated thanks guys!!

from what I have read auto-x 4.77 is going to be best accelerating out of all if you don't mind shifting alot, 4.44 is best for drag racing because you don't go into 5th gear but wont accelerate as hard, and 4.56 and .57 are the (in the middle) but most people with them go to 4.77 because it's most noticeable difference. and 4.10 is stock respectivley.

I was also wondering if I upgraded to the 4.77s (im still stock) would I have to shift sooner in the rpm range from one gear to the next. Or do I still drive the same but the car gets to 9000 rpms quicker?

Unless your going turbo 4.77 will make you change gears sooner. However your car will just take off much fast and the smile on your face will be bigger.

I think you phrased the question weird. To answer your question literally, no you wouldnt need to shift sooner in the rpm range.....you will still have 9k but the relationship between your speed and your Gear/RPM will be different. Your speed is whats changing.
You WILL be shifting sooner and more frequently. And this of course only changes your final drive ratio, so your gears will still be the same length relative to themselves, just everything will be pushed up...or down

From all my reading it seems like for at least feel and fun factor the 4.77 are the best bet. Most seem to say that the 4.44 will be best in 1/4 times and trap speeds as well, giving it most likely the best highway pulls. The 4.56/7 seem nice too, but the 4.77 gears when cruising are really only 200, 300 RPM's higher and no whine.
I have never driven an S2000 with either just giving information I have collected from searching here.
I plan to go with some 4.77 when I move and I don't commute 65 miles a day or more. High RPM cruising for that long might start to get to me and to my wallet.

i would never go with a 4.77 gear unless it was a dedicated auto-x or track car, this coming from someone who has 4.57 gears

I think the 4.77s sound like a lot of fun I have like a 20 mile comute to work but almost half of it is mountain roads so I think they would make everyday life more fun for me and I dont care about how it sounds on the freeway cause I usually set my cruise control at 60 and just sit in the slow lane till I get there thanks to everyone whos helped me make my decision
