Anyone with experience with either exhaust please chime in. I am looking for something a tad louder than stock but with a good growl when you romp it.

I've had a Tanabe Hyper for over 5 years on mine. One of the quieter aftermarket exhausts but still plenty loud. Well built product.

What about Fujitsubo Legalis R??

That seems to be quiet and a bit of HP gain.

HKS also makes a pretty tame exhaust.

Hyper is <95dB which is plenty quiet for street driving. The Touring at <93dB will be too close to OEM IMO. They both sound great at moderate RPM, nice low tone.

On 2nd thought, save your money and cut out the pre-muffler.

This will give you the extra growl you want up top, but the close to OEM sound you are looking for.

Dollar per HP ratio makes no sense to buy an exhaust.

may i say that any aftermarket exhaust you buy is going to weigh less, lets not just care about making hp here

Unsprung weight is definitely a factor, but each exhaust he is speaking of our made out of stainless steel which in no way is considered a super light material. The OP mentioned he was going after sound, and if sound is all he wants the pre-muffler cut out would give him what he is looking for.

If he wanted performance, sound, and weight savings, he would be looking in other areas such as T1R, Spoon, or the like.

So you recommend to take out the resonator (pre-muffler) for that extra bit of GROWL?

THIS is what happens when you take out the resonator... Definately doesnt sound like a growl...
