Going to buy a Mugen exhaust....
Going for a Mugen to save a bit of weight, have some better looking pipes, but mostly for the noise.
Of course I would welcome a power increase, so with this in mind is it worth spending (considerably more) on a Mugen header and decat?
Or maybe stander header with decat and Mugen Exhaust?
I'm going to get the K&N gen II also, - and that will be the extent of my mods.
Any advice very much appreciated

Is it worth considering a different header with a Mugen exhaust? (I do have my eye on the full berk UHV system as a side note actually?).
If it's worth keeping the OEM header, in this case is it worth decatting with a Mugen exhaust?
Thanks

I have the Mugen 2.2L header and I would reccomend it. Powerband was smoother after install and vtec transition was not as dramatic. Almost like when you leave the dyno after tuning.
If it weighs less and makes a little power than I would say get it

For a header, the best one out there in my opinion is the j's racing header. While the mugen is good, the J's racing header is where it is at. I doubt you will see much of a horsepower increase with the mugen cat back since it is a dual, but it does sound very nice. If I were you and I was set on the mugen cat back, i would go with the j's racing header, 70mm test pipe and then the mugen cat back. Now my exhaust setup I want personally is the j's racing header and the j's racing 70rr header back exhaust. Just need to shave the rear bumper to look good with a single exhaust and that exhaust system is awesome. Good luck finding what you want man. Have a good one.

Cheers neveronline - although my car is an 04, it's UK spec which means that it's the 2.0L. I wonder if the same can be said.
Your suggestion is much apprecated Ian, - thanks a lot, what you say makes sense.
I need to find out how much a J's header is, - and I would also like to know exactly how loud the Berk is, as i'm seriously tempted by that as an alternative...
Cheers
Anymore comments suggestions very welcome

I love my mugen exhaust; I'd buy it again no questions asked. As many have stated, weight savings and sound but hp gain is debatable. I think someone only gained 5hp by adding the mugen to a stock comptech SC setup so use your judgement when trying to figure out the n/a gains.
I also have the K&N FIPKII and have been pretty pleased with that piece as well.
I've also been on the fence about J's vs Mugen header but am leaning towards the Mugen to keep the brands the same.
Can anyone comment on how the exhaust sound changes once a header is added?
