Default Hard Top Recommendation

Im looking to get a hardtop and am see-sawing between fiberglass and carbon fiber. Most would say its a no brainer and go with carbon fiber but i honestly dont like the look of carbon fiber on a car. The only thing that would put me on that path would be if the carbon fiber would be more durable or stronger in any way...also wondering if their weight is also a big difference.
lookin for any ones opinion, facts

im guessing your lookin at the mugen/mugen replicas? that would depend what look your going for. i dont like cf much either and rather have a painted hardtop, also cf requires a lot of attention later down the road.

the Mugen Hardtop comes in both carbon fiber and fiberglass reinforced plastic (FRP). from gotuning's website, the carbon fiber hardtop weighs 34 Ibs and the FRP one weighs 44 Ibs. double the price for the carbon hardtop.

honestly give the OEM a hard look, real glass with defog, finished interior, great fitment, comes with all the parts you need in one kit, only 44 lbs. I don't like the interior look of most ht's, along with the rear window designs.

the OEM hardtop is pretty nice also. you also can add a glass window to the mugen top if you really wanted to (someone on this site did). i am not a fan of knock-off hardtops, there seem to be fitment, weather-striping, quality issues with some if not most. i would rather buy used then faking the funk... but thats for another thread. good luck in your search.

Go big or go home. I prefer the real deal cause if you do it right the first time you don't have to do it over and over again. Mugen frp is the way to go. If it's within your budget then get the Mugen instead of the knock-off because you'll regret it if you get the replicas. I have an authentic Mugen and mine fits perfect. No water leak, rattles, wind noise, etc.
