Hardtop Windnoise
I have wind noise from the drivers shoulder window area. I tried to tighten the back area first then the front to see if that helps but still getting massive wind noise from the drivers rear window on highway speeds. I installed new hardtop strikers, 4x gladfab shims and some shinetsu greese on the hardtop seals(not the windows)to eliminate the wind noise from the front center but now its the rear thats causing wind noise! This is with oem hardware and the car is a 2009 with an oem hardtop from AP1 (apparently the wiring is different). Any advice is appreciated, thank you.
take off the plastic side panels and adjust the top the best you can. adjusting the oem stuff is a pain but the plus is that you really only have to do it once if you do it right.
leaave the ALL of the latches in the locked position.. then losen all 3 bolts on each side. once its lose, the top should have some play. the latches are in their place and they wont move. the best way to cure windnoise is to pull your top back as far as you can and then down towards the car. you want to have someone else tighten up the bolts on the inside while you are doing this.
once this is done, undo the latches, then re latch them. make sure the top is sitting properly. take it for a test spin and see if everything is fixed.
try to pin point the area where the leak is and focus on sealing that area. the model year of the hardtops shouldnt make a difference to fitment.
this is another case of the OEM top not fitting as perfect as they are said to be. either way, im sure it wont be a hard fix.
i have a good amount of experience with all hardtops. id like to think I am the MOST experienced on the forums when it comes to this stuff.
been doing it A LONGGG time!

if it is like I've experienced it is the glass not hitting tight against the seals, I got windnoise with my oem hardtop at the bottom rear driver side of the window, and I got the exact same noise when I switched to a Mugen CF hardtop recently. Generally speaking you are supposed to play with retainer to move it outwards or inwards, but I have not had much succsess with it. I am pretty sure it is just the window not having enough pressure on the seals.
What has worked for me recently has been adjusting the door striker bar (the silver bar that is screwed into driver side door pillar). I had to loosen it so I could lower it slightly as the bar was a bit high for my door and it was lifting the door upwards as it closed. While I had the bar loose I decided to move it inwards as far as it would go, that would pull the door tighter when closed. After doing that the wind noise has been reduced quite a bit, and it is at a decent level that I can now live with, the window is sealing up better with the seals.
A while back when I was doing some front door speaker replacement work on my car I found the window stabilizers sitting inside the bottom of the door caviities on both doors (white plastic stabilizers). Apparently this is very common as the stabilizers fall off and drop inside the door, the stabilizers are only held in place by a weak clip, and there may be less pressure on the door window when the stabilizers fall off.

A pair of of Izzy brackets solved my problems.

What I suggested is about the window area, if you are getting noise from the rear you should try to do a full and proper adjustment on the hardtop, to make sure it is being pulled down tight enough on the rear latches.
