Default Hardtops - Whats the low-down?

Ok, so any soft-top that comes with a hardtop is a bonus for both security and comfort during the colder months but having never owned a soft-top (and of course they change from car to car) whats the low-down with the hardtop roof/s for the S2000.

1. With a regular hardtop do you have the soft-top up or down when you fit the hardtop?

2. With Spoon and Spoon style hardtops are they a replacement for a regular hardtop or do they fit over a regular hardtop - only in this months Banzi (UK) mag there is a feature on a S2000 in the US and its not 100% clear but it read like he had a regular hardtop under Spoon copy roof.

3. Do you have a hardtop and how much do you use it?

Im sure most of these questions have been asked before but seeing as I want to get as much information as possible its easier to put all the questions in one post also its nice to know what peoples views are on hardtops both factory supplied and aftermarket designs

1. softtop down

2. it replaces the oem hardtop. can only have one hard top on the car at a time.

3. no

ps. doesnt make car more secure, makes car more desirable to steal, break into.

1. Soft top has to be down

2. Same as above u can only have one on at a time

3. Yes, and i always use it but than again i don't have a soft top. I don't think it really makes it more secure. But i also don't think it makes it more desirable to steal as well. I mean u would need a truck to steal a hard top. I would say it makes the S look better, noise on the road is way lower and i would asume it keeps the S warmer and cooler in regards to temps

This is really in the wrong forum. I will move it to the right place for you. Everyone has given you the proper answers though.

+1 Security isn't a good reason to purchase a hardtop. It may keep your soft top from getting slashed but that's it.

1 and 2 what everyone else said...

3: i own a HT and i dont DD my car. i do have it on now, but i dont regularly use it. in 2 yrs of ownership this is about the 3rd time ive used it.

it does make it safer from theft. most common theft is seats and a slashed top. this prevents that. ive only heard of once case of a HT being stolen and the guy had to know what he was doing.
