The badge is stuck on via double sided tape.

The front badge has a couple of posts and there are some clips that slide onto the posts in addition to the double sided tape. I replaced mine with red JDM badges and the posts didn't line up. Double sided auto trim tape will do the job just fine by itself (its what holds the S2000 emblems on your fenders).

I'd like to paint all my emblems black. Is there a certain type of paint to do this? Also is there any certain kind of preperation for the stock silver emblems to be done prior to painting ? TIA

I just painted mine black a couple weeks ago, I love it. I used duplicolor trim paint - OEM Black. I just made sure the emblems were smooth and clean. Then used double sided tape to put them back on. I did the side emblems too!
