Default Hondata Reflash/4.77 gears

Well, I have a MY06, and my mods only include the Hondata Reflash and Invidia 70mm tp.

Planning on getting 4.77 gears soon, and wanted to get everyones input...

Does anyone run 4.77 gears on the Hondata reflash, for MY06+? Whats your opinion on it and how compatible is this setup.

Also, would this effect the overall reliability, would I be putting a ton of stress on the engine?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

so thats stock reflash

the toda reflash is the hondata reflash with the toda header, and vtec kicks in it at like 4200

Ive heard 4.77s can be a little too much for AP2s, and keep in mind that with an AP2 and 4.77s, you top out at 128

however theres a thread thats going around right now about a guy who just popped 4.77s into his AP2 and loves them.

Personally i think with the added torque/hp from the reflash, 4.77s may end up being too much for an AP2.. however with the 8500 redline, it may end up being just fine. Only complaint ive heard is that with 4.77s in an AP2, theres just too little rpms to go through shifting at redline each time.

^^^ This should give you a good idea, coming from an AP1 owner, having only 1.5k rpms to go between each shift would bug the crap out of me, too much shifting imo. Not to mention the highway cruising, especially with your reflash, cruising at 80 you'd be dang close to vtec land

1.5K that is insane, it would drive me nuts on the track.... Do you think adding a light weight flywheel would help this any? Revs would drop much quicker hopefully returning the rpms back down to 6k... but at the same time it would probably rev way way too quick

That's even worse, your revs will be way up. For an Ap2 I would try to find some 4.44s, maybe 4.57s. I think I saw a set of 4.44s for sale in the classifieds, and they are BNIB.

that, to me would be fun for about.....a week? lol. I want to do some 4.77s, but just need more room in the rpm window. if i had 2 S2's one would definitely have some 4.77s in it
