Default How to pop the hook panel off-help

I am uninstalling a satellite/iPod cord installation that was in the glove compartment of my S. I didn't install it and after several years am going a different way in the head unit department.

Popping out the stereo was easy, popping out the center console even easier.

Now I'm trying to get the glove box to move just enough that I can pull the wires out of the glove box.

I've removed the screws at the bottom of the glove box--easy. I've undone the four screws at the top of the "secret compartment"--easy. The screw in the glovebox is readily visible. What's left are the screws on the sides of the glovebox. This requires taking off the panel behind each seat with the hooks. I am having a tough time of it.

I've read many DIYs but none has pictures remaining. Am I missing something? Do the hooks come off separately? If so, how? How hard do I have to pull to get the panel with the hooks off? Don't want to break anything.

Not helping that at the storage bin I've got my S stored in, there's no heat, so I tried this today in 20-degree weather.

Thanks in advance! And Cleveland "spring" weather FTL .

Check out that thread. It's for a hardtop install but it does have pictures of what you're trying to do. One screw per hook, but I used a 5/16" socket (if my memory is correct) to get mine out since the screwdriver was stripping the screws out. Hope that helps.

I wouldn't try it in 20-degree weather. Plastics become so brittle below freezing.
