can you tell me if they are easy to detach from the rest of the softtop frame? how hard is it to do this keeping the softtop on the car? have to tried driving with the softtop down, but no motors?

thanks.

Top was out when i took motors off it was easy but getting your hands in there might be a bit of a PITA also with no motors id think that the top would bounce all over the place IE" up and down"

I don't think it would bounce. The elastic straps should keep it in check

Pair, and I would say 8lbs is on the high side.

As far as taking them out. I have no clue either. The motors I have are off my spare frame.

No one has done this yet??? I too would be interested in how this works/comes out! I'm in Tx where the weather is stupid. I drove to a friend's house top down without a cloud in the sky. 40mins later I hear something tapping on her bedroom window, look outside and its freaking pouring rain! Ran outside and sat in a wet seat, started the car, and waited there for what seemed like the longest 6 or 7 seconds EVAR! If it was manual it would have taken <2 seconds!
And for "bouncing around" while driving...I don't see why a pair of velcro straps wouldn't do the job quickly and easily somehow...

How much does an AP1 lose if I take out everything related to the soft top( motors, soft top and any other markets and misc. bolts that go with it)?

I've heard you lose up to 125lbs, but y'all make it seem way less like 40lbs. Does anyone know for sure.
