I own one of these, but I have never used it...

I might install it tomorrow morning... but its weird it doesn't feel like 2 pounds, but I am looking for a heavy shift knob!

I think thats the shipping weight; so its more than likely rounded up and includes packaging

This is correct. 2lbs is the "shipping weight" which includes things like packaging, dimensional considerations, and "rounding". If something is 1.2lbs with packaging, then it's going to require 2lbs of shipping since most carriers won't accept fractions of a pound, or rounding downward.

its not counter sunk like the modification ones...

I remember seeing somewhere there is a 600 Gram shift knob, but I can't find it...
