Thumbs down Injen Intake

Hello fellas ,

I recently purchased an Injen cold air intake from a member on this forum

I have a couple of questions regarding engine safety with a cold air intake. My question is does anyone have a picture of the "drain hole" that I need to plug? I have searched but all the threads have deleted photobucket photos. Also what is the intake shield also known as "filter umbrella" I recall reading a thread about it a while back? My last question is I saw a member who cut the "fake vents" in the front of his Ap2 bumper, to allow more air into his CAI. Does anyone else have that? If so please post pictures, and tool you used to cut it. I can't wait to drive my car since i'm currently in this condition

oh I didn't know the drain hole was part of the intake. My impression was that the drain hole was somewhere above where the filter sits, and is there for water to drip out from where the top of the hood or something?.....So I must locate this "drain hole" for my Injen intake and plug it correct?...Hmm what is that umbrella being held up by? I think I will ghetto fab one myself out of a piece of plastic.

oh you kind of confused me, there is a drain hole on the intake but i think you were referring to the drain holes of the car for where water flows through from when it rains. if your going with the umbrella method, you wont need to plug up the holes in the car.

my umbrella is held on by a screw/nut and a zip tie.

Directly over where your filter would be.

I use an Injen (IIRC) heat shield with my Fujita.

I have yet to see anyone prove that this really helps. You're probably just increasing your chance of hydrolocking. There's plenty of cooler air where your filter will be located. It's not sealed.

Air will find it's way to the filter. The filter is not completely sealed in there. There are holes in the plastic under-tray... air can get through there. There are small spaces between the plastic from the radiator area. Then yes, I suppose there is the wheel well. No need to worry about where that air is coming from.

do not rely on just plugging that drain hole near the headlight. water still finds a way to drip on to the filter. i learned this the hard way. make sure you use an umbrella over the filter to be safe.

I have the Injen CAI on an ap2.

Here's a picture with the front cut out like you requested.

I work out of the house so I don't have to worry about rain etc... More sound and more power with the cutout. I just go through filters a bit faster than usual.
