Hey everybody im looking into upgrading my 2001 s2000 with some headers, an intake, and a duel exhaust. Any bit of information will help. It has only been lowered by an inch and half so far. Thanks ahead of time.

gears will not add any power. all the do its make the power you have be put down quicker to the ground. i.e. accelerate quicker but you will max out quicker. kinda hard to explain as i dont know that much about gears. maybe someone else will chime in.

This is the fastest way for you to go fast. I read earlier this is your first car. In reality your first mod should be a driver mod. Go to a few race "schools", forget everything you think you know, and learn how to drive correctly.
x2 - First car + S2K + Young temptation = can be quite dangerous. It doesn't take a whole lot of searching on these forums to find out why.

to answer your question

Intake options
1. K&N FIPK- <$300 with proven gains in the 5-8hp range
2. AEM V2- ~$350 i have personally never seen a dyno of one of these but im sure the results are roughly the same
3. PWD_JDM Ram Air Induction- $900 proven gains in the 10-12hp range
4. J's Racing- $1400 Proven gains in the 10-12hp range

Header Options
1. Hytec- ~$1500 Best on the current market, long tube. Proven mid and peak gains
2. PLM (Private Label)- ~$400 on ebay proven mid range gains
3. J's Racing- ~$1200 Very popular and proven mid range gains
4. Fast Forward- ~$499 (the last time i looked) New on the market, lots of R&D and proven mid and peak gains. Dyno sheets can be found on this forum

In chosing an exhaust you have to pick your own poison. duals will be more quiet and slightly more restrictive but plenty out there that still make a few HP gains. Most of your gain comes from getting rid of the stock Catalytic converter. Berk and Asura are both great sorces for Hi flow cats or test pipes.
Exhaust Options
1. 75mm HKS Hi Power Single- $550 New on the market, no proven gains, great sound and hard to find as of right now
2. Invida Dual Q300- $575 Very popular, i have never done research on this one but im sure there are tons of threads on this piece
3. Skunk2 Megapower Dual- $625 Proven decent gains for a dual setup

Now there are plenty of other options for the S in these 3 categories. I suggest you do a little research and find the ones you like best. Modding these cars in the N/A state with bolt ons will yield more fun factor more HP but these cars are pretty tapped out from the factory.

I do aggree that gears will give you the go fast feel and if you autoX or just like stoplight to stoplight fun and dont highway the car they are great. I personally am going for 4.44 or 4.56 FD.

Just pick an overall goal for your car. what you would like to be able to do and then pick your mods. These cars can get very expensive to mod. Enjoy.
