Default Which intake would you prefer?

I've decided to get an intake for my s2000. I'm deciding whether to get the prm intake or the K&N FIPK. which one would you guys prefer? based on quality/hp/sound

Use the search feature. "Which intake should I get" in some form or another is asked about every week.

One thing people don't usually ask is "Is their going to be tuning involved?" Most people bolt one on and expect a big gain, this is rarely ever true. An intake can impact the whole RPM range, but to do this you need a proper tune.

If their's tuning involved and you don't mind the placement of the filter, a CAI will be your best bet. The resonance from the intake will show gains everywhere in the power-band, with a big increase in the midrange.

If you're after the sound, non CAI filter placement or no tuning, then the FIPK is your logical choice. I have one with an AUT plate and BPi flow stack and love it. I'm wanting to know how good this set-up is with a tune though.

I went with the PRM for looks and sound. Performance gains on any of the intakes are questionable.

PRM - Best sound hands down.
Had an FIPK. Sold it.
There are no significant power gains with intakes on this car.
Do you have a tuned baseline vs tuned with any intake?

The reason intakes, most parts really, don't gain so much is due to the lack of an EMS. MAP based ECU's can only compensate so much. Read up on volumetric efficiency, cylinder pressure/ignition timing, A/F, tuning VTEC, ECU's utilizing MAF vs ECU's utilizing MAP and then come back and post.

dont expect any gains with NA mods. intake and exhaust is more for looks and sound.
