A bung/silencer, i guarantee you it effects performance a lot in vtec and just before vtec.

How do i know?, as i dyno'd my car it lost around 10BHP throughout.

Drilling holes in it = no chance of a return if it is in fact the wrong part.

I had the silencer for my 70RR. It definitely made an interesting exhaust note like you are describing. It also lost A TON of power up top. Definitely made the volume tolerable for long drives but made it a lot less fun. I went to a 60RS to lower the volume....seems like that might be too loud for you

The cone silencer will help in the 3-4K rpm range. To my ears it help a lot but YMMV.

perhaps they sent you a silencer for a Honda Fit J's 60rs, which has a much smaller pipe but perhaps the same size tailpipe.

Meaning it would fit the outer diameter but has a smaller diameter to work with the small pipe
This is the only explanation I can think of.

IIRC my Spoon N1 silencer had an ID of about 38mm or 1.5" and the exhaust piping was 60mm or 2.36" ID. That silencer looks < 1" ID, probably why it drives badly.

Maybe a little OT but Skunk2 claims on YouTube "The Megapower exhaust for the S2000 is one of the only exhausts in the market that actually keeps horespower the same with or without the silencers."

i would say the ID is about 15mm give or take, the size of the head on the dollar bill
Do you think they may have sent you the wrong silencer? Or is there a way to confirm that it is the correct one?

that is absolutely too small. My silencer on my Ti-C is twice that diameter. I'd worry about engine damage by running that.
