Default j's racing snorkel problem.

hi guys. i did a search and didnt find the exact answers im looking for.
so im asking here.

i just purchased a j's racing snorkel for s2000. i hope its real.i bought it used off a forum.
i followed the how-to on how to install the snorkel..even removed the ap2 crossbar and plastic cooling plate. in addition i even have the oem hood properly cut to fit a j's racing tsuchinoko intake (since i had it on my car previously). installed it, and last..began to close the hood. AND TO MY DISMAY the hood does not close. i took the snorkel off..and the hood closed just fine.
im posting up these pics maybe someone can help.
-did i buy a poor knockoff and got scammed?
-am i missing a step from the install?
-do i need to adjust the hood..maybe the latch?
-are their multiple versions of this snorkel ..and i bought the wrong one?

there are two versions of the snorkel....one for OEM hood and the other for J's type V hood...

The difference is that for the type V hood version, the neck is thicker than the OEM hood..thus requires the "bulge" of the V hood to accomodate it. Not sure if cutting the OEM hood might fit the V version.

From your pic...its definitely a V version

like everyone else said, the one with the stock hood is about 1/2 as thick at the 90 degree part of the snorkel. time to buy a new hood!

looks real to me. raise your latch. you don't have to remove the reinforcement bar. you can rotate it 90 degrees and it'll fit fine

i assume you read everyone saying that this is the v type version.

are you saying this vtype snorkel will work with my oem hood by just adjusting the latch?

wait wait...am I missing something?

To the OP, you said your hood is already cut and it still won't fit? It should, thats the thing.

I don't think a new hood is needed, mybe you need to cut more of the hood off!

And, that snorkle looks authentic. I had one myself
