I don't think a new hood is needed, mybe you need to cut more of the hood off!

And, that snorkle looks authentic. I had one myself
im gonna try cutting more of the hood tomorrow...see if that fixes it.

You need to cut the hood to make it fit. I had to this for my Mugen intake a few years ago. You can adjust the hood also by turning the bushings left or right to get it to close more/less.

not from what i noticed. i do have rubber inserts on the sharp edges of my hood cuts to prevent the scratching. but im going to see if i can put more of the hood with a dremel to see if it can close.

i assume you read everyone saying that this is the v type version.

are you saying this vtype snorkel will work with my oem hood by just adjusting the latch?
yes. if you had the full j's intake before, I don't see why it wouldn't fit now. I would try to raise the latch before cutting the hood anymore. I have the regular snorkel and had to raise the latch so that it would fit. the thickness of the snorkel looks pretty beefy for the type v hood

Have you tried taking the snorkel out and holding it into the cutout for your hood to see if it does in fact fit?
