Default j's racing style air duct on oem front bumper?

has anyone ever cut out their own "air duct" (not sure what to call it) on an oem front bumper similar to the one on the j's racing front bumper? i have a front bumper with a j's lip molded and want that small cut out in the front bumper, but dont want to replace the bumper i have with a different one

your thoughts?

yes... just recently, i had to refinish/repaint my oem front bumper and decided it was an opportune time to do a custom cut in my bumper.

i wanted something to look clean and have an oem look or feel. turned out better than i expected.

I would go for it. You may find it a better time to do it if you have a bunch of rick chips and need to get the bumper repainted anyway. It does look cool though and im sure a little extra air getting up in there doesnt hurt either.

or get the alex duct like my old car, have it painted and installed, and you dont need to repaint your whole front end.

js 1/2 as well:

buy the alex duct ($150), have it painted, have a shop cut the hole out in your bumper, put it in.. glue from the back to hold it in. if you get it all repainted, might as well try molding it better.. i wish i did.
