Just put in a Odyssey battery
My latest duralast battery started showing signs that it needed to be replaced (like not starting my car).
I thought it might be interesting to look around at lighter weight battery options and the best idea seemed to be a 15.5 lb Odysey battery for $160.
Also, I had been wondering about a certain unpleasant smell I was noticing. I figured it was something in the engine bay or the air vent. It only occured when at a light (or otherwise not moving with engine on). If the smell was me, I figured it would be noticable when moving as well...
After I put the Odyssey battery in I no longer noticed the smell. One feature of the battery is sealed and the internal gasses get recycled (or something like that).
I never thought about my battery causing a smell when it got older. Anyone else have this experience?

i had an odyssey battery in my daily driver integra. they're nice b/c they're dry cell batteries and sealed like you said, but not the best for daily drivers b/c they are meant for competition use. The specs like CCA aren't optimal for the daily grind and might end up causing you trouble over time as compared to a regular battery. My odyssey didn't last very long.
Actually Odyssey/Hawker&c's CCA are top and typically better than most normal street batteries; where my street customers acting against my advice and deploying these have had issues was in the reserve capacity. This especially impacts those liking accessories such as good stereos or guys forgetting their lights on whilst at the cinema. These are the guys that drain them and then have to buy new units because they are beyond recharging. It is imperative that one not allow these batteries to fully discharge or they'll likely not be recoverable. Racing batteries are not designed to run a lot of items hence the size and weight advantages; moreover, they are designed to be regularly placed on a charger when the vehicle is not running versus supplying power for an alarm system&c&c..
I installed an Odyssey 680 over two years ago when I was in my gutted car phase. Between bouts of daily driving for a month at a time or sitting for 10 day periods, I've had no issues with the battery. Strong starts every time.
Lightweight dry cell battery are a great modification.

Voltphreaks was an account I managed while I sold ads and can not wait to see someone give a review about its' weight savings (4.5lbs) Lithium battery.
