Default K&N air filter = more responsive throttle?

I just received my factory filter replacement from K&N which I installed before driving home from work today and it felt spunkier. Maybe it was the cold air and low humidity today. It would make sense to me that the throttle response is crisper if I was going from a dirty factory filter to this new K&N, though it could have been mind over matter.

anyone else have similar experience?

probably placebo effect, but it doesn't mean that you can't enjoy it!

If you don't, can you let me know what's the part # for the direct K&N replacement? Thanks.

I believe the part # is K33E2435

K&N claims 1-5 hp gains with just a filter replacement. They claim more with their intake systems but I just wanted a more free flowing filter. It seems that complete intake systems don't really give you all that much performance improvements for the amount of money you end up spending on the setup.

PS- I filled up at a Chevron just off the highway today on my way home, then floored it 1st through 3rd on the on ramp, and it seems way crispier and slightly louder. It has been colder though, so temp might be playing a bigger role in all of this.

So you installed it during summer? I feel like it was pretty noticeable with the colder drier air of the Fall / onset of winter... but again, it could be placebo effect.

I also agree with you. I swear by K&N filters. The fact that you can just clean it, and reoil it is awesome too. How much does a stock filter cost anyway? Prolly the same if its coming from a dealer....

Was your filter dirty when you replaced it with the new K&N? Mine was and it helped throttle response a ton.

It was slightly dusty, but by no means super dirty. I bought the car with 26,000 miles on it and it was a garage baby since purchased in 2003. The engine bay was cleaner than when it rolled out of the factory. But yeah... I have a feeling its been the weather
