Default K&N vs CAI

I am looking at getting either a OE replacement cone from K&N or a CAI. Any one have any suggestions on which is better for the S? I had a Weapon R CAI on my 88 CRX and saw a 4-5mpg increase in gas milage...any one have any similar results on the S2000?

The stock airbox is very well designed actually. You won't see a huge difference between a k&n filter in the stock airbox and a CAI. The main reason to buy one is for the sound. CAI's will pull in cooler air than the stock airbox, but you have the risk of hydrolock and its only going to make a couple hp difference. I'd save the money and just get the k&n filter. Also do the stock airbox mod so it flows better.

Basically you cut out the baffle (plastic wall) inside the airbox with a dremel or w/e. Leave alteast a half inch in the bottom to protect from water a bit. Then use a piece from the removed wall to block off with resonator hole in the backside of the intake box.

Then either completely remove or cut out the bottom of the L tube on the top of the intake box. I just removed the bottom so that it flows better but still directs air to the filter.

^^ Thank you! Everyone talks about the "airbox mod" but you either find posts telling you to search, or people who have already done it and describe it in some half-assed fashion.

Going to do this soon. Thanks again.
