Default k&n 57 series install

Ordered my k&n fipk and it's coming in a couple of days. I've been anxious and searching for any installation threads that may help me be prepared. Some say that a hole needed to be drilled for the '08 s2k. Would I need to do the same for my '07? Gotta know now so I can grab a drill from my buddy. Thanks!

Relax buddy! It is an easy installation.

Reading the instructions will clear a lot of the complications, I would also recommend taking pictures of the tubes beforehand so you can look back to see what goes where...it helps if you have no idea what those tubes are for.

youll need one of these (pic below, just make sure you get correct size)...just take your time as some of the steps in the instructions dont apply to all models. just read em and understand what you are doing before attempting. its not difficult at all.. some of the hoses on the valve cover could be frozen, so becareful using a screwdriver or something to help remove em. I scratched my valve cover ever so slightly like a

I just installed mine. It wasn't hard, but the instructions aren't extremely clear. If you have any mechanical background you should be fine. Yes, you have to drill a hole also. Make sure you plug everything back up when you're done also. I forgot one plug and boy did I know it when I started up my car.

That bit is $49.99 at my local hardware store . The 5/8 drill bit should do the job just fine, Thanks lol.

Yep just drill the hole, the manifold is plastic. There's a rubber grommet as I recall. I matched the location of the hole to the OEM location.

Get all the chips out!

Yea... there are a lot cheaper versions of that bit. That is a high end, metal cutting one I believe. It has to withstand intense heat tolerance to cut through sheet metal. The FIPK tube is made of ABS or some type of plastic. And yea I agree you'd be fine with a correctly sized drill bit.
