Koni Sport vs Stock
#2
Honestly I'm not sure if the Koni's are better than stock.
I have them on my car and it's softer than the stock ones.
Better for daily driving, but not for the track I believe.
Stock shocks are pretty good.
I had to switch it out to lower the car... for looks of course.

But can the stock shock work well with Espelir ASD spring? I got the set but thot of keeping stock shock with espelir since koni may not be any better, or worst now that you mention it is softer. if softer, with stiffer spring, the combi seems disastrous.

the stock shocks in our S is already well tuned out of factory.
unless you always track ur car, otherwise i think stock +springs will handle very well. im saying the springs with mild compression pressure, not those hardcore springs that just slam ur car but sacrifice all the performance. Tein S-tech,espelir,ebach are great springs for stock.I hv seen ppl with these springs last more than 50k miles on stock shocks.Depends on ur driving habit and road condition.

i wanted to sell the both, new. then change to Ohlins which is reputed to be good at high speed stability yet comfy on the slow. But it is costly and i wish to sell the 2 of them off before ordering any Ohlins. Motons will be too hard core i guess for almost the same price of Ohlins. ??

I have the koni yellows with espelirs and i love the setup. i had the springs with the stock shock for a while, and i am sure they would have lasted for a long time but as soon as i got the konis on i felt a big difference. def one of my fav mods. I have mine on the stiffest setting and i daily drive it, and i find it quite tolerable as well. I am no suspension guru but i thought that if you had an aftermarket spring on a stock shock it won't ruin it but it is not the optimal setup. I would say if you have the funds and you don't want coilovers buy the koni's.

The Koni Yellows are certainly NOT too soft. I've had the Eibach Pro-Kit for years and originally mated them with the OEM shock. They ran fine for a good many miles. However, you tend to get used to the feel of a setup as it gradually changes. As the OEM shocks wore out, the tail seemed to float a bit more on high speed sweepers.
The instant I changed to the Koni setup I got the old - stiff - OEM feel back again. I had a grin from ear-to-ear. BIG difference. Granted my OEM shocks were tired and yours seem to be pretty fresh, but I can say from experience (not speculation like others) that the Koni can be adjusted to fit your preference.
Full-Soft is softer than OEM
Full-Firm is quite a difference and above the feel of stock regarding the "stiff" ride.
The dampening adjusters make an appreciable difference.
