Was looking around at some intakes. Then I thought ( yeah it hurt ) why not just mount say a K&N cone filter right on the throttle body? ...sounds kinda dumb and out of the normal for sure maybe even ricer But besides the obvious engine bay warmer air you be sucking up what else would be a downside? You could make some kinda heat shield/box. Wouldn't the tb response go up? Sound level for sure would change. Maybe you could have a vented hood for better air flow. Why you guys think no one does it?

The whole point in getting a cold air kit is to get cold air for more horsepower. Hot air is counterproductive.
And there are very important hoses connected to the tube. Save the money and just buy a cheaper cold air kit.

Rig up a reducer to a filter and try it out. There isn't anything on the intake tube that cant be capped off. Just the air injection system and front breather, both of which can be capped and filtered without issue, many do it anyway. Yeah IAT will go up if you do nothing to isolate it, but be interesting to see back to back dyno.

this is interesting...id like to see what would happen with a vented hood with a scoop with the air filter in that location

I had this set up before. Between the vented hood, header wrapping the header/exhaust system, and blocking the radiator fans and radiator, heatsoak under the hood was almost non-existant. I noticed that this set up gave me a little more MPG.
