Disagree - if anything it makes it sound unique and different to all other 4 pot ricer cars with an intake. Granted other honda vtecs sound similar but it's still a unique sound to vtec motors and I think the nsx/s2k engines are the best sounding vtec motors.

I really like the K&N FIPK, see my vid below for sound it makes.

The craziest and loudest intake by far was the PRM...it's kinda rare, limited production...some of the older guys on the forum may remember the intake and its trumpet end!

I had an AEM v2 with a stock exhaust on an ap1. It became a regular thing receiving compliments on how my car sounded; people never knew it was just an intake. That in itself probably says a lot about my driving habits... hah. It was loud, and sounded amazing towards redline. Under normal driving you would never know minus a little whistle at certain conditions and cold idles.

Definitely agree. But its unrelated to the thread.

The stock airbox is actually pretty loud and sounds fantastic from outside the car. But....people want that intake noise INSIDE the car too.

I will agree that the F20/22C sounds unique on the induction side as compared to other engines. But...I don't like the sound or look of most aftermarket intakes. And I do feel like they give the car a ricer-in-a-civic feel.

F20/22's also sound unique on the exhaust side....and to my ears, magnifying the F series exhaust is much better in terms of driving enjoyment and sound quality.

When I was a child who had just moved to a S2000 after years of civics, I had an AEM V2. It was effing loud. I remember one time, I was ripping down a street and VTEC engaged right as the RF of my car was close to some old lady's open window. And she jumped out of her seat and swerved. I felt bad lol. She was old AF.

I think the FIPK or some custom intake is likely louder than the V2 from inside the car. Idk which is louder outside the car.

Intake noise is far less of a ricer problem than the majority of exhausts on S2000s.

Eh. Its all just perception. But....An AEM sounds just like a no-name tube and filter. So if you don't like the sound of an open filter...you will dislike an AEM or Injen as much as you would dislike some cheap shit. On the other end of the spectrum, if all you want is sound...then they all sound the same anyway.

However...a junk exhaust and a better exhaust sound very different. So at least, with exhausts, there's some discernable difference.

There are a few closed box intakes that sound different. But all the tube and filter setups are about the same.
