The '06+ AP2 has a big dip in ignition timing between 2K and 3K RPMs due to an increase in knock sensitivity in that range, and this causes a significant dip in torque. Increasing timing about 10 degrees at 2500 RPMs gave me about 13 ft-lbs of torque.

If you add that huge dip in torque at 2500 RPMs due to the ignition timing to the significant bump in torque at around 3500 RPMs due to the "resonant hump" that most CAI's have, you can get almost ~30 ft-lb difference from 2500 RPMs to 3500 RPMs. That can really make it feel like hesitation. Then heat soak makes this even more pronounced. Could this be what you are experiencing?

Since you have an '06, you should really consider getting a FlashPro so you can make your torque curve look more like this red line, and less like this blue line.

As soon as I read the title I guessed you have a 06+. Throttle hesitation at low rpm was the first thing I've noticed on DBW S2ks compare to AP1s. With FlashPro I loaded the non-TODA tune it came with and the hesitation instantly went away.

gernby,

that's a nicely tuned torque curve, especially for the 4-6k rpm range (i'm assuming the blue is before and red is after?). is this just with a flashpro tune?

Thanks. The graph I posted above is just a before / after (about 15 minutes apart) of my current FlashPro tune compared to the stock tune.

Why would this thread make you love your AP1 more? I had an '02 AP1 before my '08 AP2, and I think it suffered from this problem even more. Of course, with the AP1 it wasn't nearly as easy or cheap to fix.

is it drastically noticeable for daily driving? how's the gas mileage with the tune? sorry for the questions, but just wanted some real feedback from someone with real experience.

It's very noticeable. When I flash the stock tune to the ECU, the power curve is very "lumpy", and the VTEC kick is annoying. Since I have a light weight flywheel, there's no way to keep it in VTEC between 1st and 2nd, so I have to feel the kick at least twice every time I accellerate hard. With my tune, it's absolutely smooth and strong from 2500 to redline.

Does anyone on this site sell remote online "e-tuning"?
