Springs will be fine. I could have swore your original post was worded differently. Springs tend to be stiffer which some people really like. Since you do not track the car often you will more than likely never know the difference except steering feeling a little more responsive. You might not even push your car that hard on the street either. I think you will be just fine with quality springs. It will alter the handling to someone with a ton of seat time on a track, but it will not ruin the handling. Don't forget you will need an alignment afterwards. Take it to a reputable shop, many see a lowered car and think it's an excuse to slack and not get it right. Your camber will probably be a little more negative, but check that side to side is even and toe is where it should be. There are a few threads in the suspension forum about proper toe settings for daily driven cars. You can go factory, or you can do less and lose a little turn in and get 10-15k (est) more miles out of your tires.
