Default lowering suspension question-need advice

Hi,
I have a set o Neuspeed Sport Springs. My shocks on my S have 120k miles on them. I need to replace them and drop my S at the same time. I have 3 options:

1) Buy a set of slightly used shocks and use the Neuspeeed springs

2) Buy a set of aftermarket shocks (thinking about Koni's but have heard mixed reviews)

3) Buy a set of coilovers and sell the Neuspeed springs. However I don't want to spend more than about $1100-$1200 for a set.

I want to lower my car 1-1.5 inches. I have had coilovers on another car and hated them. I never tracked the car and the ride was really rough. Any ideas? Help is very appreciated.

Sell your springs and get coilovers.

Personally, I went the coilover route, because of my obsession with adjustability. However, I did lose some street-driving comfort because of the new 3-times-firmer-than-stock springs.

If you are concerned with street comfort, I'd suggest a good set of springs. Coilovers can be comfortable on the street, but you're going to have to do your research to find a suitable spring rate.

If you decide you need some stock shocks, I have some low mileage available. PM me.

What do you use your S for? Daily driving? Any tracking plans? Aggressive or mundane driving?

There are good and bad coilovers...Stay away from race coilovers. Those are the coilovers that have really high spring rates and are regarded for their handling/performance, not comfort.

Seems your are looking into more of a comfortable ride. Look into Bilstien PSS9's. The spring rates are as soft/maybe a little stiffer than stock and are regarded as one of the most comfortable coilovers on the market with top notch quality build/assembly.

What about spring rates of 8k front and 6k rear? Is that high/low?

What's up with NEX or Godspeed coilovers? I've never heard of them.

In my opinion that's a good starting point. Not too stiff for street driving.

That's a little on the low side for coilovers. You haven't answered my questions that I posted earlier so I can determine the best suggestion of coilovers for your needs and style of driving.

The stock S2000's spring rates are about 4k all around...So the fronts are gonna be twice as stiff while the rear is gonna be 1 1/2 times stiffer. You also need to look into the valving of coilovers. Coilovers that have bad valving will feel bad no matter if the spring rates are 12k or 5k...Make sure that a decent street coilover has "helper springs". They help soak up/smooth out all the small imperfections and bumps.

I don't track my S2k. I don't really plan on it either. I'm am looking to replace my stock shocks and lower my car at the same time. I guess I do some spirited to hardcore street driving if that's what you are looking for.
