Default Mishimoto fans

hi !
i'm planning on getting a Mishimoto fans Shroud and replace the stock fans i have on my Koyorad Radiator coz i think the stock ones are not strong for the size of the radiator.

they are about $185, and they should be an OEM fit and plugs.

my question is, will this Misimoto fans fit on my Koyorad radiator ??

are they good ? anyone have any issues with them ?

Yes it fits. I have it on mine. I did slightly moddify mine though. I had to for it to fit my old mishimoto radiator. It was nothing major, I enlarged the holes and had to cut some off around the lower radiator hose. I don't know if these were required for it to fit the koyo. The only problem I have with them is the fan covers are made of cheap plastic that turns brittle and start to fall apart. The fans themselves seem good. They keep my temps in check.

I've heard nothing but bad things about mishimoto. About everyone, including me, that I have talked to have overheated with them. The speed/strength of the fan is slower than the flow of the air passing through the radiator, causing it to block/stop the flow of air. Also the fan shroud, , blocks the airflow immensely. I would suggest louvre-ing them up to help dissipate heat.

Just my 2 cents. Eh, what do I know anyway.

Hey guys,

Our fan shroud kit will bolt to either the OEM radiator, Mishimoto radiator, or any aftermarket radiator with OEM fan mounting locations. I am fairly certain the KOYO retains these bolt locations.

Our fan shroud kit must be wired into the existing OEM harness. This task is not extremely demanding, but some electrical experience is necessary. I would be happy to provide assistance with wiring.

DC2: I have yet to hear any negative feedback regarding this shroud so I am curious about your particular fitment concern. It does not seem it prevented you from installation but we strive to make our products 100% bolt in and hassle free. I am going to investigate this a bit further and will contact you for more details if you do not mind.

Thanks

I didn't know you guys were on here.
I bought your radiator and fan shroud when they were first released. The lower mount tabs did not even remotely line up with the tabs on the radiator and the upper mounts didn't line up either, but they were fixable. The lower portion of the shroud contacted the lower radiator hose neck, so I had to cut a section out of the shroud. A section of welding on the lower radiator neck blew out after a year or so and it was replaced with a new radiator (that radiator came with a defective radiator cap- which was oh so fun to troubleshoot. I bled the cooling system several times, replaced the thermostat and pressure tested the cooling system several times trying to narrow down my overheating issue). The shroud fit on the new radiator nicely though, so I assume the mount issues were with the radiator, not the shroud. I have since replaced the mishimoto radiator with a koyo.
I may not be a big fan of your products, but I am a fan of your customer service. Good customer service is a rarity these days, so I thank you guys for backing your products and trying to make things right.

Thanks guys! We do our absolute best to research, design, and engineer the best products we can. In this industry it does not take much to lose a customer so we take pride in providing the best possible customer service we can.

DC2: I sincerely apologize for the issues you had with our radiator fitment. I completely understand the frustrations of having to modify a brand new part. Our current aluminum radiator offering for this vehicle displays 0 fitment concerns that I am aware of. I appreciate you commending our customer service, perhaps you will give Mishimoto another chance in the future.

Feel free to ask me any questions about our products. I am also available through PM. I really enjoy reading and posting on S2KI and it is a very informative and welcoming forum.

Thanks

I will vouch for the fan shroud.

I picked up a FullBlown radiator though and the mounting positions for the fans were cock-eyed and off. I had to slightly modify one of the fan mounts on the shroud to get it to bolt up. I chopped off the stock pigtails and soldered/heatshrunk them to the Mishimoto fans - didn't have any issues.

Didn't hear back from FullBlown when I told them about the fan mount though. It didn't leak and I got it working so I didn't bother much with it. I will be upgrading the cap, thermo and fan switch so I'll take another look at it later on.
