i would ( and am ) if the car is n/a. i have the koyo radiator installed on my car and we also put in the mugen thermostat and fan switch. the car ran too cold....like it would never reach 3 bars ( on an ap1 ) unless sitting in hot traffic. temps were like a consistent 156 degrees or so on the freeway.

took it out and it went up about 12 degrees or so....a much better operating temp.
If you are using an '01 thermostat, then you might benefit from an AP2 thermostat, since they appear to be 10 degrees F hotter than the early AP1 thermostats. If you have an oversized radiator, you really don't need to waste all the fuel and power on an unnecessarily cold thermostat.

didn't know that; interesting info.

but we just swapped back to the oem ap1 thermostat and fan switch. cars runs cooler w/the koyo radiator, but not too cold like it did w/the mugen thermo and fan switch.

I find it hard to believe that the mishimoto radiator would not improve cooling by itself. I plan on installing the mishimoto rad, fan shroud, thermo, and fan switch, with an ARC Rad cap. I am also getting the Mugen-ish hood from a friend. i will be pushing 12.5lbs of boost. So I think the added cooling will actually be noticeable on track days or sitting in traffic while waiting to get onto Base in the morning.

Where do you get the mishi fans at? I have a koyo and its identical to this from what I see in the pics, I have one 10'' fan and one oem fan and I need to replace the OEM fan because the shroud hits my AC.

Why would you assume that you will need the crappy bandaid of the colder thermostat and fan switch? If you are going to do it "right", and install a better radiator, then wait to see if that is good enough before you reduce performance by putting a colder thermostat or fan switch in.

Huh, so I swear I commented on this thread and my comment is gone Did mods see fit to delete it or is it a forum crash?

ANYWAY:

My experience with the mishimoto is that it runs a LOT colder than OEM. I changed only the radiator, stock thermostat, new fan switch (old one was broken).

The fans dont even turn on while driving normally, they switch on after hard driving + stopping, or long idling without moving. When they switch on, they switch on for less than 30 secs before shutting off.

i had one in my s2000. i think i payed like $220 for it. I had a defective radiator cap so i had to get one at the local autozone. I've heard many people have the same problem with the cap. Other than that, its a great intercooler for the price, and the c-west s2000 runs it. lol

^what cap can you use instead of the one it comes with? Mine has not failed yet, but I was wondering where I would pick up a new one if it did go bad..

Fair enough. I totally understand where you are coming from. And I actually agree with you. I think I will stick with the new fan switch cause I am pretty sure mine is messed up. But I will keep the thermostat out of the picture and give it a good day of autocrossing and see how it goes.

On another note, will the ARC radiator cap fit on the Mishi Rad?
