Modifry Phone/GPS/Device Mount Install, Review, and TRACK TEST :) !
I just installed the popular 'Modifry' s2000 mount for phone/gps/other devices. I did a video of install, a review, and then I put it to the test under extreme G loads on the racetrack ... I am really impressed with this mount--Super clean install. I have no affiliation with Modifry, but I hope this info is helpful!

I dropped that holder in favor or drilling a motorcycle GPS ball straight into the gauge bezel and mounting phone holder to the GPS ball. Power was wired behind the dash and through the vent below the phone. It's another option.

Thanks for the photo! That is a clean way to run power for sure. My only concern with mounting it directly to the bezel would be how close it is to the steering wheel and controls and it getting in the way. What caused you to switch from the Modifry mount?

I've done many, many track days, numerous days driving the Dragon and environs and several trips to the east coast and back without a single instance of knuckle impact. It's farther away than the wiper switch which I've also never impacted.
I moved it to that location about 6 years ago because sometimes when I am on the track I like to look at the extra gauges that I have on my Bluetooth OBD2 software on my iPhone and wanted that information where I did not have to turn my head to view it. Also, when a call comes in, I can easily see who's calling by taking my eyes off of the road ever so briefly.

Could also be the way it is angled that helps keep it out of the way. I just did another Time Trials event with NASA at Summit Point. You can really see in this video how solid this mount is--I love running the predictive lap times on the track in real time. It gives you some realtime feedback. it is amazing how much even a small loss of traction can effect your lap times. i was on a loa that was trending almost 1 full second quicker than my fastest lap and then i had to counter steer coming out of turn 9 and BAM I was now half a second SLOWER than my quickest.... so a 1.5 second swing just from a slide and correction.

Dozens of mobile phone holders will fit in the unused (for me) CD slot on the radio or an air vent. Many under $10. Shipped. (Radio is largely decorative for my driving.)
You could even use all of these.

I use a bracket for my iphone for music and gps mostly. No track driving issue for me. I bought one of the Modifry brackets a while back but I have been reluctant to install it. The cutting needed bothers me a bit. Also, I'm curious if when you are all done the dash bezel fits tightly against the dash like it does normally? Or does it sit slightly differently, leaving a slightly larger gap line, (equal to the thickness of the bracket), between the bezel and the dash? I am tempted to use this because it puts my iphone in the perfect location for viewing.
Right now I use a Proclip that clips on the transmission tunnel which puts it by my right knee. It works fine - and it can be removed in an instant. The viewing angle is not ideal - you have to take your eyes off the road to see and use it. It works well as far as supplying power to the phone - I run a very short USB cable from my Alpine head unit (radio door has to be open) to the phone. But, it is solid. No problems in that regard. The bracket puts the iphone in a place that can be a bit irritating as far as bumping your right knee a bit in certain situations - but you get used to that. I'm not a fan of holders that hang off a vent. Every one I have seen/used flops around too much. Plus, they block the air from the vent.
Here is the pro-clip I am using (pic is from their web site) - ProClip Console Mount ProClip USA.

My car came with the Modifry from the PO and happy to have it. I've used a bunch of the other bolt on ad-hoc phone holders with my other cars and they don't fit the form / function of the Modifry in the s2k.
