Default To Modify the 70RR or not?

Hello,

I recently got a J's Racing 70RR and I love the exhaust, except the part where I get paranoid driving around town. I have a Spoon N1 Kit on the side and back then when it was on the car with a Berk HFC I was able to drive faster without getting too paranoid (quieter and no smell). Right now with the 70RR I am very careful getting around and I am constantly on the lookout for cop cars...Not fun, regardless of how glorious it sounds.

So this gets me thinking, maybe I should have an exhaust shop (of course...the sketchy type) to cut my 70RR and weld a flange on. This way I will have the option to pair with OEM cat / HFC / test pipe.

I have a few worries and was wondering if anyone could chip in their thoughts:
1) The 70RR with OEM cat (also HFC) should lower the exhaust volume by quite a bit? Being in California, I want to lower the noise volume a little and NOT give out too much test pipe smell.

2) Would this mess with the exhaust drone at all?

3) How badly would this hurt the resale value of the 70RR?

Has anyone tried this before? If so, how do you like it?

Thanks,
Kevin

Since you said California, I would recommend selling it and getting a 60rs. Attracting attention out there is no bueno.

I'm paranoid driving around with the 60rs itself in California as well, even with an OEM cat in place. I'm currently looking for an ASM 60mm or 70mm SUS exhaust as my friend has one paired with a test pipe and it is not loud at all, with the added bonus of not having drone.

How about selling it and buying a 70rs which is the catback version? It would make more sense than chopping up your current exhaust

Seems like I will take the exhaust off and run the Spoon N1 w/ OEM cat for smog first and then decide...It is a little costly and risky to modify the 70RR. With the OEM cat or even HFC it might significantly mess with the drone level...

Thanks everyone!
