In the two weeks I had the obnoxiously and painfully loud Invidia Q300 on my car I measured the noise level in excess of 106 dBA, a level that if your employer subjected you to would require double hearing protection. No surprise the Q300 wouldn't pass. The Tanabe Medalion Touring dual exhaust current on my car measures no louder than 95 dBA. My wife says it's too loud (of course!).

That exhaust is louder than no exhaust lol. But a lot of aftermarkets are. My car (mine is modified with a v-band clamp before the Y so I can pull the mufflers easilly) without the mufflers and just the turndown behind me is a LOT quieter than a couple of S2k's I have ridden in with aftermarket exhausts. It does not sound great with the mufflers off, but a lot better than the drone factories that some aftermarkets create. My only reason for pulling them is dumping the 44 lbs of the two mufflers for big autox events, so sound was not the goal. I did once drive it 7 hours to Lincoln that way before I started trailering it ... that got old :P

The Invidia is not exactly known as a quiet exhaust. Maybe just buy a Tanabe, HKS or another brand exhaust? The Tanabe Medallion sounds way better than the UK mod and looks almost OEM to boot...

Paint the Tanabe Medalion Touring black like the OE exhaust and it's not noticeable unless side-by-side. "Gentlemanly performance" sound.

For some sort of reference. This was mine at 2017 Nationals. Very hard to compare since this was recorded via gopro, but it gives the idea of how yours would "probably" sound with that piped straight through the muffler. Definitely not as loud as one would think, but would be pretty obvious to a cop that it was not close to stock :P It actually sounds louder at idle/low rpm. This is PLM header-->Berk Cat-->stock everything else up to the Y pipe in the rear. Everything from the Y pipe back removed and a short turndown dump where the Y normally sits.

And was not my best driving day ... so no judging to harshly there :P We are talking about exhaust here!!! And and on an unrelated note, that orange ND1 I park next to at the end is now the car I co-drive

Trying to think of the easiest way to implement this internally, I think you can do it without welding in a pipe, but rather just cutting a hole.

Cut a hole in the side of the center pipe. Looking at the photo, the hole should be at the bottom of the center pipe, where the inlet pipe ends inside muffler.

The hole should be larger tuan a comparable uk mod pipe would be, since there is nothing directing flow to it. Ideally the hole would face the inlet pipe, but even if it were in an easier to drill spot it should be fine.

This hole would allow a portion of exhaust flow from inlet pipe to bypass the rest of the muffler, just like uk mod does.

I think the hole would actually need to be quite large to have the desired effect.

Also, in the stock system the majority of exhaust flow is from only one of the mufflers. You can even see how the one that is in line with the pipe from the cat has more heat shielding around it. It gets much hotter than the other one, which is mostly just for show.

So most of the effect you are after is going to come from that one muffler. Since this is mod is no doubt vert expensive, I suggest doing just the one muffler. Just go a little bigger on the hole, which won't cost anymore.

Cut open muffler. Cut hole. Weld it back. This can all be done at the top of muffler, where it can't be seen once reinstalled.

Agree, you could just cut the hole and not need to weld in anything. It should have the same effect.
