Default More air

Ok, been thinking about getting more air to the scoop. I have been considering an FIPK as I love the sound of the air box without the lid, but heat soak seems to take effect after about 10 miles.

Last night after a 10 mile drive without the airbox lid I noticed the car slowing (felt like an old turbo diesel engine before the turbo kicks in). I stopped and the filter cone was warm to the touch. I replaced the lid and drove a further 5 miles. I then removed the lid and the filter cone was then cold to the touch, as was the main air tube to the engine (sorry not a mechanic!). So despite the air scoop pointing to an enclosed space it is obviously getting air from the holes above the radiator.

I decided to drill some more holes below the airscoop. I figure more air to the scoop will be a benefit especially in warm weather. Not sure if I will detect any difference but worth a shot!

Well, so far about 150 miles driven and I can't notice any differences from the driving seat. Can't imagine it having a detrimental effect tho.
