I am currently in this same situation (minus the college part). The issues that I have to think about are a follows:

- Outside noise? Because my car is a dd I want the least amount of noise. I know driving an S that I will never get the complete silence that other cars offer, but if there is a difference in these two tops I am intrigued to hear what it is. Which one of these will be better in that respect?

- How long will it last? With the materials of the hardtops being different, which one will last the longest? Dropping $2500-3k on a hardtop, I only want to buy one.

- Lexan vs. Glass, again, in theory we know which one will last longer. or will it?

Anybody have any thoughts on this, other than 'Mugen looks better'? (I already agree it does)

thanks.

oem! the big rear glass is awesome.

if you have mods, go mugen

if you're relatively stock, go oem

i sold my oem hardtop because i needed the money..didn't realize how quiet my car was with the hardtop until it was gone. it makes a serious difference in driving comfort. i don't think the mugen is insulated like the oem.

^^^ Mugen is supplied with the same weatherstripping as an OEM hardtop. if you get a copycat the same can not be said.

to the OP, another consideration is that you can get factory hardtops for the list price already painted black.. you will be shelling out more dough to get the mugen painted.

I agree with the visibility comment. The rear visibility is absolutely crap with my Mugen. Way worse than the soft top.

But it looks badass

I like the mugen if it is going to be black. If I were OP I would get an OEM GPW HT I always thought it makes the car look like a super sick coupe
