Im thinking about purchasing a MUGEN TOP. Im buying it off a third party.

Can anyone tell me how to determine if the top is Authentic or Fake? Just don't want to get fooled and waste the little money I have.

Real mugen tops have a bagde on the inside of them with a serial number stamped in to it.

The badge has a certain look to it but i'm sure it can be replicated. It has a serial number stamped on it. Mugen rear uses a window seal that looks different than the rest. It's much higher quality. Basically if you show it to a mugen owner they can tell you if it's fake. Also the mugen top has a black interior and comes with oem hardware. Get some pictures of the inside, the badge, the window seals and i'll try to compare to mine.
If it's CF mugen only uses a 1x1 weave which no other fake top uses to my knowledge.
Also a real mugen top will not go for cheap.

 

The sellers is asking 1800. When I asked wither or not its fake, he stated that "it's real, it has the badge inside"..

^^Thats a red flag in my book! Real mugen FRP hardtops sell used for around $3000. Thats a killer deal if its real.
